Based loosley upon the Kapitan, built by GM's German subsidiary Opel, it exhibited a more integrated overall appearance, with a lower profile, a flatter bonnet and a squarer rear end. Plus there were significant mechanical improvements too. The new EJ sported Duo Servo brakes, strengthened front suspension and an improved Hydramatic suspension. In addition, the EJ was the first Holden to feature safety belt anchorages.
