They are named as Vellum figures - as they share the same tones with Vellum: a high-quality, durable writing surface made from prepared animal skin (traditionally calfskin), often used for manuscripts and bookbinding.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe range of Vellum figures would eventually reach over twenty and many were exhibited at the great World Exhibitions held in St. Louis and Christchurch, New Zealand in 1900 and 1906 respectively. The most popular of the Vellum figures were those based on the theatre, particularly the models of Henry Irving as Cardinal Wolsey and \u003cstrong\u003eEllen Terry as Queen Catherine [seen here]\u003c\/strong\u003e in two of their most popular stage roles.
